Is Fidel fi-dumb, or just getting old?

Castro finally admits the Communist system doesn't work. Admits it was stupid to encourage Russia to nuke the U.S. But he's still eating better than the people he rules over. Is Fidel getting soft in his old age, or has the clarity of his own mortality given him pause to reconsider his past actions? Too little, too late. Burn in hell you TYRANT!!!
